How is this different from running Claude or ChatGPT over a CIM?
Raw documents blow past a chatbot’s context limits, and a model left to do the arithmetic is inconsistent on exactly the numbers that matter - it also often breaches your NDA. preFDD is a structured review with every figure cross-checked and a senior practitioner signing off on a fixed deadline.
Do you replace full FDD?
No. preFDD sits before FDD. It tells you whether full FDD is worth commissioning and, if so, exactly what to scope it to - so your diligence is aimed, not exploratory.
Our materials are in German, French, or Italian. Does that delay things?
No. We review materials in their original language and deliver the memo in English. No translation lag, no nuance lost in a machine translator.
What if the dataroom is incomplete?
That’s the normal case. preFDD reviews what you have and turns the gaps into ranked questions for the seller, rather than papering over them.
Where are our materials stored? Are they used to train AI?
Documents are stored in the EU and never leave that footprint at rest. Your materials go to one AI provider under commercial terms that contractually prohibit training on them, and are deleted on request after delivery. We’re happy to share our sub-processor list with your compliance team first.
What if you find nothing material?
You get a clean read and proceed with confidence. The point is the structured assurance and the aimed question list - not finding problems for their own sake.
